Reiki Master/Teacher Member, UK Reiki Federation
Penelope Quest began her journey of personal and spiritual discovery in the 1970s, developing skills as a clairvoyant and channel, but since 1991 her main focus has been mind/body healing and spiritual development. Penny worked as a Reiki Practitioner for three years before becoming a Reiki Master (Teacher) of both the Usui and Usui/Tibetan Reiki traditions in 1994, and a Karuna Reiki Master in 1996. In 2000 she gained further experience and qualifications in the original techniques of Dr Usui from the traditions and lineage of Mr Hiroshi Doi, a Reiki Master in Japan, and in 2003 she began working with another of Hiroshi Doi's students to gain more knowledge and experience in the traditional Japanese techniques.
(The photo below was taken after the Graduation Ceremony at Lancaster University in December 2007 where I was awarded my MSc in Health and Healing Science. Professor Helen Leathard, my academic supervisor, is on the left).

In addition to being a qualified teacher (Cert.Ed) and Open University graduate (BA) in Psychology, Management and Education, she has continued to extend her knowledge and experience by studying a wide range of subjects, including Meditation and Visualization, NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming), EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), TAT (Tapas Acupressure Technique), Kinesiology, Metamorphic Technique, Sound Healing, Native American and Contemporary Shamanism, Huna (Hawaiian Healing System), Earth Energies, Dowsing, Feng Shui, Abundance Theory and Cosmic Ordering, and other topics which promote understanding, personal growth and a holistic view of the person. Her most recent academic qualification (2007) is a Masters Degree (MSc) in Health and Healing Science.
After 15 years as a lecturer and senior manager in Further and Higher Education, teaching a wide range of subjects from Marketing and Management to Psychology, Communications and Personal Development, in 1996 she chose to change her career to enable her to devote more time to teaching and writing about Reiki. She is now the internationally renowned author of five books on Reiki, all published by Piatkus: "An Introduction to Reiki" (2001 - now out of print), "Reiki For Life" (2002) and NEW American Edition, April 2010; "Self Healing With Reiki" (2003, and NEW smaller edition, same content, 2009) and "The Basics of Reiki" (2007). Her latest book, "Living The Reiki Way", was published in July 2008, and a NEW smaller edition, same content, in January 2010, and she is now working on her sixth book, "The Reiki Manual", in collaboration with her daughter Kathy Roberts, which will be published in September 2010.
In addition to her work as a Reiki Master, Penny is a lay preacher for the free-thinking Unitarian church, and also occasionally runs retreats and workshops on personal and spiritual development, shamanism, energy psychology and abundance theory/cosmic ordering. She has been a consultant on Reiki for both the NHS and the Open University, and writes occasionally for the American magazine "Reiki News". Penny was the Vice Chairman and Education Co-ordinator of the UK Reiki Federation from April 2005 to April 2006, and was their representative on the RRWG (Reiki Regulatory Working Group) Education Sub-committee, working with other Reiki organisations on producing National Occupation Standards for Reiki Practitioners in the UK.
Penny now lives and works in the Cotswolds. To contact her, please e-mail info@reiki-quest.co.uk
