August is usually a quiet month for me, as I'm not teaching any courses, so I'm enjoying some "me-time", having some visitors to stay (the Cotswolds is popular with my friends!) and generally relaxing. However, I will be putting some more "recommended books" on this site in the next few weeks - there hasn't been much spare time to read lately! I've also put Part 1 of an article on "Dowsing for Energies" on the website; Part 2 will follow shortly. LATEST NEWS - JULY 2010 ! SPECIAL OFFER ! As there are just a few places left on this year's Usui Reiki Master/Teacher Training, and because it is possible that this might be my last one, as I am planning to retire soon, I have decided to reduce the cost from £1,800 to £1,500 - a saving of £300! This will include the preparatory 120-page Apprenticeship Pack with telephone/email support, and the 7-day residential course from Saturday 18th to Friday 24th September 2010, plus post-course support. Last Few Places This Year Apart from my Reiki Master Training (see above) I am only teaching two other courses during the rest of this year. There is now only 1 place left on my Shinpiden Course for Reiki Masters in October (SORRY, THIS IS NOW FULL), and there is now only 1 place left on my Reiki 1 course in November. Please note that this will be my last Reiki 1 course, as I shall not be offering First Degree in the future. LATEST NEWS - JUNE 2010 Sadly you've just missed out on my "Self Healing with Reiki" workshop in Cheltenham on Saturday 5th June - here's what one of the attendees wrote: "Thank you for a wonderful experience. Your workshop was truly outstanding, I gained so much in such a short space of time, my head is still reeling!" Perhaps that will help to encourage you to come along to one of my other courses or retreats! This summer there are still 3 places left on my last ever residential SUMMER SOLSTICE RETREAT FOR REIKI MASTERS in Lincolnshire from Saturday 19th to Tuesday 22nd June, and there are also 3 places left on my very comprehensive and thorough Reiki Master/Teacher Training, so to give yourself time to complete the Apprenticeship Pack, it would be best to apply now, or at least by early July. UK Reiki Federation Spring Festival I shall be giving two talks at the UK Reiki Federation's Spring Festival in Leicester - one entitled "The Sound of Reiki" on Saturday 10th April, and another entitled "Releasing Trauma and Reversing Negative Beliefs" on Sunday 11th April. LATEST NEWS - MARCH 2010 Happy Spring Equinox! March 21st/22nd is the Spring Equinox, where we have equal hours of light and darkness. It is the Celtic Festival of Awakening, Balance and New Life, and this is where the tradition of Easter eggs comes from, because, as with many Christian festivals, the timing was meant to replace pagan beliefs. The egg symbolises the rebirth of nature, the fertility of the earth, and creation, so maidens would carry a willow basket of eggs as part of the celebration. To celebrate the Equinox, you can decorate hens' eggs, have a "spring cleaning" session, create an area of your home as a shrine - a place for meditation and contemplation - decorated with a vase of pussy willow and other twigs with bursting buds, bright yellow daffodils, and perhaps some small pots of spring bulbs. Plant new seeds of herbs and flowers, especially those that you can dry in later months for medicine, cooking and other ceremonies. New Book for March Doing the revisions on my latest book is taking much longer than anticipated, but hopefully I've nearly finished! In the meantime there's another new book recommendation on this site for March - Deepak Chopra's "Reinventing the Body, Resurrecting the Soul". Article on Dowsing I always start my Reiki 1 course with demonstrating and letting students have a go at dowsing for auras, to help them to understand the principle of energy, and I'm often asked how to do it, so later this month I'll be putting a new article on this site on that very subject, including how to make your own dowsing rods. Dowsing is fun, and anyone can do it - honestly! LATEST NEWS - FEBRUARY Sorry, haven't got a lot to say at the moment as I'm still working hard on the revisions to "The Reiki Manual" which were due at the publishers by mid-February! However, I have added two new pages on the 2010 Book of the Month section of the website - the Book for January is "Imperfectly Natural Home" by Janey Lee Grace, and the Book for February is "The 10 Secrets of 100% Healthy People" by Patrick Holford. I'm very pleased to announce that "Reiki for Life" was published in the USA and Canada on 15th April by Tarcher, one of the companies owned by Penguin Books. It is basically the same as the British edition, apart from a few minor amendments, a different cover and some additional American and Canadian contacts in the Resources section, and it is available from Tarcher (
A new edition of "Living the Reiki Way" is being published this month. It has the same content as the original 2008 version, with a few updates on contact addresses etc, but it is a slightly smaller size, and therefore the good news is that it is a bit cheaper! It is now £8.99, and to ensure you get the right copy, the ISBN is 978-0-7499-2933-6.
December 2009 saw the publication of a new edition of "Self-Healing with Reiki". The book has exactly the same content as before, apart from a few corrections such as contact details, but it is a bit smaller and also a bit cheaper - it is now priced at £8.99. It is still published by Piatkus, and the ISBN number, if you want that for reference, is ISBN 978-0-7499-2972-5, and it is available from all the usual sources, ie book shops and internet sites. However, I do intend to start selling signed copies of all my books some time in 2010, so I'll keep you updated on that - it might take me a while to organise it!
