I have been teaching traditional Usui Reiki from both the Western (Takata) lineage since 1994 and the Japanese (Doi) lineage since 2000 (I do not teach the Usui/Tibetan system developed by William Lee Rand).  Traditional Usui Reiki is a gentle healing energy, and is therefore suitable for virtually anyone to learn.

My Reiki 1 courses are held at only one venue - Stanton Guildhouse in the beautiful Cotswold village of Stanton in Gloucestershire, (between Broadway and Cheltenham).  It is possible to attend as either non-residential or residential, which I hope will help the many students who want to train with me, but live some distance away - and will also turn the course into a retreat-style experience.  I shall be teaching ONLY TWO REIKI 1 COURSES IN 2010, which will begin at 6 pm on Friday evening, and end at approximately 6 pm on Sunday, and each is open to a maximum of 10 students. 

Costs include a light supper on Friday evening, plus 2-course vegetarian lunches on Saturday and Sunday, and refreshments all weekend, plus a comprehensive manual and a Reiki First Degree certificate.  Residential costs also include bed and breakfast on Friday and Saturday nights.  Non-residential cost is £250, Residential cost is £320 including B&B in a single room, £300 in a shared room

Reiki (the Japanese word for “spiritual energy”) is a safe, gentle, non-intrusive healing technique for use on yourself, other people, and even animals and plants.  It uses the gentle placing of the hands (no massage, pressure or manipulation) on the fully clothed body to allow spiritual energy to flow to balance, heal and harmonise the body, mind, emotions and spirit, promoting a sense of wholeness and well-being, and encouraging self-awareness, personal growth and spiritual development.  A truly “holistic” system which is powerful and effective, yet easy to learn in just one weekend, so this course is open to anyone with an interest in Reiki (no previous knowledge or experience is required), and is ideal for people who just wish to use Reiki on themselves, family and friends, as well as being the essential foundation for those who want to go on to further courses, to become Reiki Practitioners or Reiki Masters. 

We begin on the Friday evening with an introduction to general energy theory, including Reiki and the human energy body (auras and chakras), and how to detect auras using dowsing rods, how to sense them with your hands, and even how to see the human aura!  During the rest of the course we cover the history and origins of Reiki, discover what healing is, deal with the physical and metaphysical causes of illness and wellness, and the need for energy cleansing in healing work. 

Full training is given in the techniques and hand positions for treating yourself and others with Reiki, and there will be plenty of time for practising Reiki on yourself and on other students, as well as time for questions. We will also discuss how to use Reiki with animals and plants, and other creative ways of using this wonderful healing energy.

There will be four separate energy attunements (spiritual empowerments from ancient Eastern traditions) which opens up your inner healing channel, allowing the Reiki energy to flow through you.  This attunement process makes Reiki unique and is the reason why the ability to heal can be developed so quickly yet so permanently.  It activates a Reiki channel through which the Reiki healing energy can flow, and once you have been attuned you will always be able to use Reiki  - the ability to channel Reiki doesn’t wear off or wear out, and the supply is inexhaustible!!  From then on, whenever you want to use Reiki for self-healing or treating others, simply thinking about it and intending to let the Reiki flow, or holding your hands out in readiness to use it, will activate it – there are no complicated rituals to follow.  You will receive a comprehensive course manual covering everything we do on the course, and a Reiki First Degree Certificate.
